Role Description

CIST seeks a dedicated and knowledgeable Computer Science Teacher for the 2025-2026 academic year. The teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging and high-quality Computer Science lessons to students in Years 8-9 (Lower Secondary), Years 10-11 (IGCSE), and Years 12-13 (A-Level). The ideal candidate will have a passion for technology, coding, and computational thinking, along with the ability to inspire students to develop problem-solving and analytical skills.

Reporting to: Head of Secondary School

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Teaching certification and substantial teaching experience, preferably in an international school setting.
  • Strong understanding of the Cambridge IGCSE and A-Level Computer Science curriculum.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (Python, Java, C++, etc.), database management, and software development.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts in an engaging and accessible way.
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and innovative learning environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Delivery & Instruction: Teach Y8-Y9 (Lower Secondary), Y10-Y11 (IGCSE), and Y12-Y13 (A-Level) Computer Science following the Cambridge curriculum. Develop engaging, hands-on lessons to build proficiency in programming, algorithmic thinking, data structures, and computer systems, while preparing students for IGCSE and A-Level exams.
  • Student Development & Support: Assess and track student progress, provide targeted feedback, and mentor students in coding competitions and tech-related extracurriculars. Guide them on career paths and higher education opportunities in Computer Science.
  • Classroom Management & Engagement: Foster an inclusive and interactive learning environment, implement effective classroom management strategies, and integrate educational technology to enhance student engagement.
  • Collaboration & Professional Development: Work closely with colleagues and school leadership to align instruction with academic goals, stay updated on emerging tech trends, and participate in training and professional development initiatives.
