MandaNetwork is a language and knowledge AI lab. We help organizations turn language and knowledge challenges into advanced, responsible, and affordable AI prototypes — built to scale with the right partner.

Rather than stopping at slide decks and demos, we build real, validated products. We are the creators of Plain Kit (AI tools for clearer, plain-language communication) and Terminology Kit (AI tools for terminology precision, multilingual alignment, and knowledge management). Our roots are in open-source digital humanities work, and that focus on language, knowledge, and responsible technology still shapes everything we build.

The role

We're looking for a Junior AI Developer to help us build the AI tools at the core of our product kits. You'll work alongside experienced engineers, data scientists, and NLP specialists, turning language and knowledge problems into working functionality. This is a hands-on role for someone early in their career who wants to ship real products, learn fast, and grow with a small, research-grounded team.

You won't be building throwaway demos. You'll contribute to prototypes that are tested, validated, and built for a clear user and use case.

What you'll do

• Help develop and test AI features for our products, including Plain Kit and Terminology Kit
• Build and integrate with large language models (LLMs) and natural language processing (NLP) pipelines
• Implement functionality such as text simplification, readability scoring, term extraction, terminology alignment, and consistency checking
• Write clean, maintainable code and contribute to prototypes designed to scale
• Collaborate with senior engineers and data scientists on architecture, evaluation, and quality
• Support testing, prompt design, and iteration based on real-world feedback
• Contribute to internal tooling and, where relevant, our open-source projects

What we're looking for

Required

• A degree (or equivalent practical experience) in computer science, software engineering, data science, computational linguistics, or a related field
• Solid programming fundamentals, ideally in Python
• Familiarity with LLMs and core NLP concepts (e.g. tokenization, embeddings, prompting, evaluation)
• Comfort with version control (Git) and collaborative development
• Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn
• Good written and spoken English

Nice to have

• Experience with NLP or ML libraries (e.g. Hugging Face Transformers, spaCy, PyTorch, or scikit-learn)
• Exposure to API development and integrating third-party AI services
• Interest in language, terminology, plain language, or knowledge management
• Familiarity with cloud platforms and basic deployment workflows
• Additional languages (we work across multilingual contexts)
• Open-source contributions
